FAQ

Questions, answered

Do I need an account?

Yes. Your records are meant to last for years, so they live in your PaintBook account rather than only on the phone. That's what lets them survive a reinstall, a lost phone or a new device.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Add and edit records with no signal — they save immediately and sync when you're back online. Photos wait in a queue and upload on their own.

Can it identify a paint color from a photo of my wall?

No, and be wary of anything that claims it can. Lighting and camera processing make that unreliable. Smart Scan reads the label on the can, box or packaging, where the color name and code are printed.

I don't know the product code. Can I still save it?

Yes. One useful detail is enough — a brand, a color name, or even a note. Codes, SKUs, receipts and dates are all optional.

What happens when I change phones?

Install PaintBook on the new phone and sign in. Everything is backed up to your account, so it's all there.

How do I get my records out?

With Pro, open the Passport tab, choose a property and what to include, and generate a PDF you can share or keep. On Free, email us and we'll send you a copy of your records.

How do I cancel Pro?

In Google Play → Subscriptions, or from Settings → Subscription in the app. Pro stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.

Which languages does PaintBook support?

English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Dutch.
