Terms of Use

1. Agreement

These terms apply when you use the PaintBook app or this website. If you do not agree with them, please do not use PaintBook.

2. Your account

You need an account so your records survive reinstalling the app or changing phones. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account. Provide an email address you can actually receive mail at — it is how you verify the account and reset your password.

3. Your content belongs to you

The records, notes and photos you add are yours. We claim no ownership of them. We store and process them only to provide the service to you — to sync them across your devices, generate the PDFs you ask for, and back them up.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, particularly photographs of properties that are not yours.

5. Smart Scan

Smart Scan is designed to read manufacturer labels and product packaging. It is an aid to typing, not an identification service. It cannot determine a paint colour from a photograph of a painted surface, and does not claim to. You review and confirm every extracted value before it is saved.

6. Subscriptions

• PaintBook Pro is offered as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription, billed through Google Play.
• The annual plan includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge.
• Manage or cancel at Google Play → Subscriptions. We cannot cancel a store subscription on your behalf.
• Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro stays active until the period you have paid for ends.
• Refunds are handled by Google Play under their policy, and by your statutory rights where those apply.

Deleting your PaintBook account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it separately in Google Play.

7. Free plan limits

The free plan currently includes one property, ten finish records, one photo per finish and two Smart Scans. We may change these limits, but we will not reduce access to records you have already saved, and we will not put backup, search or offline access behind the paywall. Home Finish Passport PDF export is part of PaintBook Pro; on the free plan you can still see every record in the app, and ask us for a copy of your data through the support page.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• upload unlawful content, or content you have no right to upload;
• attempt to access another user's account or data;
• interfere with the service, or work around usage limits and quotas;
• use the service to store data unrelated to property finishes in a way that abuses storage.

9. Availability

We aim to keep PaintBook available and working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change. If we discontinue the service we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your records.

Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. With PaintBook Pro, the Home Finish Passport export exists for exactly that.

10. Liability

PaintBook is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from inaccurate finish records, unavailable service, or lost data. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

11. Ending your use

You may stop using PaintBook at any time and delete your account from within the app — see the account deletion page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date above and, where significant, notified in the app. Continuing to use PaintBook after a change means you accept the updated terms.
